In Ct Hospice, Branford, April 5, 2012, John P. Kane Jr., 92, of East Haven. Beloved husband of the late Irene Granata Kane. Father of Kathleen"Kathy"Kane Gedney and husband William of East Haven and the late John Kane III. Grandfather of William Olsen and Jennifer Olsen Maccaro. Great grandfather of Christopher and James Olsen and Ava, Michael and Jonathan Maccaro. Brother of Christine Newman and the late George Kane, Francis Kane, Rita Orabona and Eileen Lambe. Also survived by a daughter-in-law Theresa Hofmeister Kane of Branford and many nieces and nephews. Born Jan.14, 1920 in New Haven, a son of the late John P.and Mary Hanrahan Kane, he was a graduate of Hillhouse High School and Yale University. John served proudly with the US Army Air Corp during WWII, seeing action in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He was the recipient of several decorations including the Purple Heart. He was employed for many years by Amtrak as a railroad engineer and he was president of the New Haven chapter of The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. A reception for friends and family to celebrate John's life will be held in the home of Bill and Kathy at 60 Francis St., East Haven, CT on Sunday April 22 from 12:00 to 3:00. Memorial contributions may be made to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405. Arrangements are with the Clancy Funeral Home, East Haven
