Vincent G."Jimmy" Canna Sr, 88, of East Haven died peacefully with his family by his side on April 26, 2012 in CT Hospice, Branford Beloved husband of Margaret Coppola Canna. Father of Linda Canna of Guilford, Phyllis (Edward) Emielita of East Haven, Margaret (James) Rose of Guilford and Vincent G.(Diane )Canna Jr. of Guilford. Grandfather of Eddie and Brittany Emielita, Meghan and Melissa Rose and Kyle and Ryan Canna. Also survived by many nieces and nephews and was predeceased by several brothers and sisters. Born Sept. 18, 1923 in East Haven a son of the late Domenico and Filomena Ruggiero Canna, he served with the US Army during WWII where he earned several decorations including a Bronze Star medal. He retired as a foreman from Camco Fittings of Hamden after thirty eight years of service. Vincent was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church and American Legion Post 89 in East Haven and enjoyed camping with his family and traveling to the 324th Infantry Division reunions. Funeral from the Clancy Funeral Home,43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven, Monday morning at 8:30. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Vincent de Paul Church at 9:00. Burial with military honors in East Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 4-6pm. Memorial contributions may be made to CT Hospice,100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405. Vincent's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Talmadge Park for the compassionate care given to him.
