In Branford, Oct.11,2012,William M. Granfield, 90, a longtime East Haven resident. Beloved husband of Mary Kelly Granfield. Father of William M. Granfield Jr. and wife Maria Luisa of Mt. Vernon,NY, Maureen G. Hufnagle and husband John of Centerville,MA and Kevin C. Granfield and wife Christine of Newton,MA. Grandfather of Sulema and Liam Granfield,John,Sheila,Billy and Danny Hufnagle and Kevin and Catherine Granfield. Great grandfather of Ryan and Matias Ramos. Brother of the late Richard T. and John P. Granfield. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Born Sept. 29,1922 in New Haven a son of the late Michael and Mary Keating Granfield, he was a graduate of Hillhouse High School and had attended Arnold College. William served with the US Army Air Corp during WWII and had been employed for over thirty years as a foreman at the CT Hard Rubber Co. He was a longtime member of St. Vincent de Paul Church in East Haven and was instrumental in the founding of St. Vincent de Paul School. He was also a member of American Legion Post# 89 in East Haven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday morning at 10:00 in St. Vincent de Paul Church. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul School,35 Bishop St.,East Haven,CT 06512. Arrangements are with the Clancy Funeral Home,43 Kirkham Ave.,East Haven.
