In Stratford,with her loving family by her side,Theresa E. Gallagher Cole,90, a longtime resident of Tyler St.,East Haven. Wife of the late James R. Cole. Mother of Michael(Debbie)Cole of Branford,James R.(Mary)Cole of Hamden,Theresa C.(Bruce)Lawler of North Haven,Karen Ferrara of Guilford,Mary(David)Lisenby of San Luis Obispo,CA, Helen Cole of Guilford,Janet(David)Incerto of Stratford and Sarah(Lawrence)Gelo of Guilford. Also survived by a sister Amy Hilliard of CA,fourteen grandchildren,one great grandson and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a granddaughter Adrienne Ferrara and two brothers, Joseph and Jack Gallagher. Born Aug.3,1922 in Newport,RI a daughter of the late Joseph and Helen Harris Gallagher, she was a graduate of the Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing and served with the US Navy as a nurse during WWII earning the rank of LTJG. Theresa continued working as a registerd nurse until age 72. She was a longtime communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church in East Haven and was a member of the Retired Naval Officers Assoc. and the Rhode Island Hospital Nurses Alumni Assoc. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts but her main priority in life was her beloved family.
Funeral from the Clancy Funeral Home,43 Kirkham Ave.,East Haven, Monday morning at 8:30. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Vincent de Paul Church at 9:00. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Columba Cemetery, Middletown,RI. Friends may call Sunday from 5-8pm.
