In Branford,Oct.16,2012, William A. Scholefield,91,formerly of Florence St.,East Haven. Beloved husband for over sixty four years of the late Constance Peters Scholefield. Father of David Scholefield of Grand Prarie,TX. Born March 1,1921 in Bristol,CT a son of the late James and Ruth Archie Scholefield, he served with the US Navy from 1942-1945 and saw action in the Southwest Pacific Theater. He was an engineering graduate of the University of New Haven and was employed for twenty six years at A.C. Gilbert Co. and then for eighteen years at the Unimax Switch Co. as a Quality Control Manager until his retirement. A longtime member of the Elks Club he was a past Exalted Ruler of Hamden Lodge 2224 and at the time of his death was a member of Branford Lodge 2585. William was a life member and past president of the Elm City Gun Club, a life member of the Ct State Rifle and Revolver Assoc.. He was also a member of the National Rifle Assoc., the CT Sportsmans Alliance and the American Legion Post 89 in East Haven A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning at 9:30 in Our Lady of Pompeii Church,East Haven. Interment with military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are with the Clancy Funeral Home,43 Kirkham Ave.,East Haven.
