Obituary of Joseph S. DiMassa

In CT. Hospice,Branford,Dec.14,2012, after a courageous battle with cancer Joseph S." Poppy Joe" DiMassa,78 of Branford passed away with his loving family at his side. Husband of fifty six years to Beatrice L. Paradis DiMassa. Father of Steven J.(Carolyn J.) DiMassa and Michael A.(Eda-Marie) DiMassa,both of Branford. Grandfather of Steven J.(Lea) DiMassa Jr.,Patrick DiMassa,Lauren DiMassa,Nicole Michel,Samantha DiMassa,Christopher DiMassa and Joshua DiMassa. Great grandfather of Stella,Joseph and Lillian DiMassa. Brother of Anthony"Skip"DiMassa of West Haven and the late Pauline Faughnan. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Born Oct 7,1934 in West Haven a son of the late Salvatore and Carmel Celentano DiMassa, he was a graduate of West Haven High School and had been employed for many years as a warehouse manager for the former Lubin Business Interiors. Joe was a fifty five year member of the Short Beach HH&L CO #4, was a supernumerary,a dispatcher and a crossing guard for the Town of Branford, was a member of the Fire Police and a former member of the Elks Club.He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Church in Branford where he was also a Eucharist Minister. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 in St. Elizabeth Church,Branford. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours.
