William R. Totten, 82 ,of East Haven passed away peacefully at his home on January 25,2013 with his devoted wife of 59 years and his family by his side. Survived by his wife, the former Dorothy Szigeti. He was born in Bridgeport on August 25,1930 a son of the late Nicholas and Melvina Duby Totten. He lived in Bridgeport until he and Dorothy retired and moved to East Haven in 2002. He worked at Norden Division for many years and later as an engineer for the City of Bridgeport. William served in the Connecticut National Guard from 1947 to 1961,spending a year on active duty at Fort Bliss,TX in 1956 and served for twenty years in the Army Reserves retiring as a Chief Warrent Officer. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Gary Totten and his wife Sharon of Stratford,Linda Totten Shelby of Bridgeport and Susan Donroe and her husband Edward of East Haven, grandchildren Brian Totten and his wife Traci,Kevin Totten,William Totten and Victoria Donroe, great grandchildren Mia and Gavin Totten, a sister Joan Soltis of Fort Myers,FL and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Nicholas and Felix Totten. Funeral service will be held Monday morning at 10:00 in the Clancy Funeral Home,43 Kirkham Ave.,East Haven. Burial will follow in Bare Plain Cemetery,North Branford. Friends may call Moday morning,prior to the service from 9:00-10:00.
