My sympathies are with the family of John. In Daniel 12:13 God tells Daniel that he will rest in death but will stand up for your lot at the end of the days. This is true for our loved ones also.

My sincere condolences to all of John's family. I first met John at the Alling Memorial Golf Course when I was Director of Parks & Recreation. At the time I had to make some very unpopular decisions and although John did not necessarily agree with them he was most respectful and tolerant. When others stopped talking to me John always had a friendly good morning. As years past we developed a friendship few were aware of. I will miss him as he was truly a great person who I had the utmost respect for.

My condolences to the entire family. It is always a sad day to hear about the passing of a childhood’s friends’ parent. I recall Mr. Messina with the foggy memories of a child, but what is totally clear to me; he was always kind and helpful. Reading the brief bio, I am struck by the full life of service, connection and commitment. Yet this I know from his support of John when we were kids in the Ct. Classics Drum & Bugle Corps.
With such an expansive family his spirit and love of life has an opportunity to continue and thrive through all of you. May you find comfort in your memories and support in your gathering together in honor of such a loving and kind man.
