George F. Palmer, 79, of East Haven, passed away at home on February 10, 2013. He was the adoring husband of 53 years to Dorothy (Peters). Born in New Haven on March 6, 1933 son of the late George and Agnes Palmer. Proud father of Scott (Debra) of Branford, Robin Vollono (Albert) of East Haven, Stephen (Rita) of Canton, GA, Jon (Tara) of East Haven, and Chris of East Haven. Loving grandfather of Jordan, Samantha, Alicia, Christopher, Danielle, Erica, Jessica, Brendan, Joseph, and Chase. Brother-in-law of the late Peggy Morrow and Patricia Moon, and uncle to several nieces and nephews. George was a 1951 graduate of Wilbur Cross High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving honorably during the Korean Conflict aboard the U.S.S. Boxer, CVA-21. Upon discharge George attended Boardman Trade School and was a member of the IBEW. He retired from the Metro North R.R. George was past President of the Morris Cove Groaners and a lifelong member of the East Haven Stoners. He was past President and coach in the Momauguin Recreation League and a member of the American Legion Post 89. George was a passionate fan of the NY Giants, Red Sox and UCONN Huskies, and enjoyed his yard and his many pets and animal friends. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Family will receive friends from 4 to 7:30 PM on Friday, February 15, 2013 at the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday at St. Clare Catholic Church, 234 Coe Ave., East Haven with Committal to follow at St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford.
