Obituary of Joseph L. Zampano

Joseph L. Zampano 71, of East Haven passed away March 20, 2013 at CT Hospice. He was born March 19, 1942 in New Haven to Louis and Helen (Wilchinski) Zampano. He is preceded in death by parents and sister, Barbara Funaro. Joseph is survived by two loving daughters, Christine Zampano and Elisabeth Zampano both of East Haven, grandchildren, Keri Ann Zampano, Jasmin Edmonds and Amanda Craig and great grandchildren, Mya Zampano and Abigail Rivera. He is also survived by three nephews, Frank, Michael and Brian Funaro, his gumbas, Tony D, Tony A, Roddy and all the guys at the Branford Gun Club and his friend and dog, “Meesha.” Joseph was a retired US Navy veteran having served during the Vietnam War on the USS Farragut. He was extremely proud to serve his country. He retired from the CT Army National Guard with 34 years of service. Joseph was then later employed by the State of Connecticut working on bridge repair and construction. Family will receive friends on Sunday, March 24, 2013 from 1 PM until the time of service at 3:30 PM in the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave, East Haven. Burial will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.
