Mary E. Gormley, 93, of East Haven, passed away May 10, 2013. She was born April 25, 1920 in New Haven. She is preceded in death by parents William and Mary (Smith) Barry, husband William Gormley and sister, Ann Avitable. She is survived by children; Jerry Butcher (Dolores) of Orange, Regina Durazzo (Vincent) of Guilford, Jo-Ann Izzo (Anthony) of West Haven and Bill Gormley of East Haven. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Mary worked for 17 years at the New Haven Police Department. She was loved by all who knew her funny disposition. In her retirement years she volunteered at the Food Pantry in East Haven, enjoyed Bingo and Foxwoods and vacationing at Martha’s Vineyard. Above all, Mary adored and loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. “We were all blessed to have her in our lives,” she will be deeply missed. Family and friends are welcome to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday May 15th at 10:00 am in St. Clare Church, East Haven. Funeral service in the care of Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven, CT. Donations may be made to St. Jude Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105-1905 in memory of Mary Gormley.
