Obituary of Ann Marylou McGovern

Ann “Marylou” McGovern, 85 of Branford, passed away May 20, 2013. She was born May 12, 1928 in New Haven to Lester and Winnifred (McPartland) McCormick. Ann is preceded in death by parents, husband, James McGovern, great grandson, Deandre Humphrey, sisters, Muriel Remillard, Gertrude “Prudy” McCormick, brothers, Lester “Sonny” McCormick, Vincent “Vance” McCormick, Jack McCormick, Ronald McCormick and Charles Kayes. Marylou is survived by five children; Janet McGovern (James Palko) of E. Hampton, James McGovern Jr. (Gaetane) of Jacksonville, NC, Ann O’Mara (Dennis) of E. Haddam, Kathleen McGovern of Branford, Patrick McGovern (Nada) of Woodbridge, nine grandchildren; Thomas Cullen, Sean Cullen, James McGovern III (Ashley), Chantal Humphrey (Tony), Monique Nelson, Michael O’Mara (Jill), Ryan O’Mara, Gabrielle McGovern and Sabrina McGovern, six great grandchildren; Raymond McGovern, Andrew Humphrey, Breven Nelson, Keelan Torrie, Tanner and Taylor Nelson. Marylou is also survived by siblings; Janet McCormick, Joyce Morris (Eugene), Robert McCormick, Gerard McCormick, Paul McCormick (Karen). Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM Wednesday, May 22 at the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Family and friends are invited to meet and attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 11 AM in St. Mary ‘s Church, 731 Main St., Branford. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Boys Town, 14100 Crawford St., Boys Town, NE 68010 in memory of Ann McGovern.
