Gilda T. Torello, 84 of East Haven, passed away June 8, 2013. She was born June 17, 1928 in New Haven to Edward and Mamie (Norder) Riolino. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Joseph Riolino Sr. Gilda is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, John Torello and children; Diane Asprelli (Frank) of New Haven, Karen Frugale (James) of Cheshire and John Michael Torello of East Haven. She is also survived by her three grandchildren; Nicholas, Christina and Joseph Frugale and several nieces, nephews and a large extended family of loved ones. She was a loving wife, mother, “Nana” and aunt. Gilda was an avid cook, especially known for her manicotti, eggplant, hot pepper jelly and pickled eggplant. The family would like to thank, Dr. Thomas Rutherford, his team, Smilow Cancer Hospital (14th Floor), the Infusion Team and CT Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of Gilda. Family and friends are invited to meet and attend a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 in St. Clare Church, 234 Coe Ave., East Haven. Committal to follow at St. Agnes Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Smilow Cancer Center in memory of Gilda Torello
