Robert Corcoran, 87 of East Haven, passed away July 2, 2013. He was born on May 19, 1926 to the late Thomas and Anna (Welch) Corcoran. He is survived by his loving and adoring wife of over 60 years, Sallyann (Ginger) Corcoran and children; daughters, Pamela DeDona (Carmen) and Sharon Corcoran, son, Wayne ”Cub” Corcoran of East Haven and Scott Corcoran (Molly) of Bridgeport. He is also survived by his 3 Grandsons, Daniel, Greg and Jayme DeDona who made him so proud with their scholastic and athletic achievements, Graduates of Yale, Boston University and Brown. He is also survived by Granddaughter Jillian Corcoran, the latest joy in his life, as well as brother-in-law Raymond "Buddy" Catalano and a very special sister –in-law, Joan Corcoran. Bob was predeceased by sisters Grace Harrick, Florence Considine, Marian Catalano and Ruth McDaniel, Brothers John & Thomas Corcoran. Bob graduated from Commercial High School in 1944 and is a graduate of the National Radio Institute of Washington D.C. He served in the Army as a Staff Sgt. during World War II from 1944 to 1946 spending a year in India. From 1947 to 1949 he worked at the American Steel & Wire. In 1949 he went to work at the Plymouth Electric Company, for 32 years becoming TV Service Mgr., then became TV Service Mgr. for Zenith Radio Corp. of NY for 7 years. Bob was a past member of the Crow Hills Club, United Commercial Travelers and the Knights of St. Patrick. He is presently a member of American Legion Post 89, VFW Post 7330 and the East Haven Stoners, where he was the secretary for 11 years. At one time Bob was an avid duckpin bowler and in later years played a lot of golf as an original member of the Dawn Patrol at Alling Memorial Golf Course. He was also a NY Yankee fan since 1936 and enjoyed watching the UCONN women’s basketball team have their fabulous success. The above was written by Bob himself and that's just the type of Man he is; always taking care of everything. His family would like to say thank you for the unconditional and unwavering support throughout his whole life. Dad was a friend to all; he loved golf, football, baseball, playing pinochle & social gatherings that brought people together. Please raise a toast to celebrate our wonderful Father’s life devoted to his loving Family and Friends. The family would also like to thank the Veteran’s Hospital in West Haven, CT for their endless quest for Dad’s Health. As well as the CT Hospice for ensuring Dad’s comfort during his final days. We will forever be grateful to the two facilities. The family asks that in lieu of flowers please make donations to the East Haven Stoner’s scholarship fund, CT Hospice of Branford or to The VA Hospital in West Haven at http://www.volunteer.va.gov/apps/VolunteerNow/ Family will receive friends from 8:30 AM until 10:45 AM on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. A brief service will be held at 9:30 AM in the funeral home. Burial to follow at All Saints Cemetery with military honors.
