John Joseph St. Germaine, 71, of East Haven, died peacefully on August 7, 2013 while at Branford Hills Health Care Center. He was born February 12, 1942 in Wareham, MA. to the late Doris Nichols Boudreau and Walter St. Germaine. He was brother of Wayne St. Germaine, East Haven; Paul (Lori) Boudreau, New Hampshire; and Doreen (John) Blake, ME. John was the loving, kind husband of devoted wife, Doreen Martens St. Germaine East Haven, the proud father of Jessica St. Germaine, Niantic, and Jill St. Germaine, Wallingford, John (Dina) St. Germaine Jr. East Haddam, and Jacqueline St. Germaine, Branford. He was the playful “Pop” to his four energetic grandchildren: Emilie St.Germaine Noble, and Ashlyn, Gavin, and Skylar St. Germaine. John was a kind, honorable man who befriended everyone he met. He owned, operated and managed numerous restaurants in the New Haven area: “Little John’s”, “John’s Ferry Street Restaurant” and “The Skillet”. He also operated Better Eatin’ and “Jane’s Place” of East Haven. Patrons who frequented his restaurant became treasured friends over the years. He worked as a cook at the Gan School in New Haven for many years where students and staff alike enjoyed his meals. John enjoyed watching John Wayne westerns and old ‘black and white’ war movies, as well as trips to the casino with his brother Wayne. In years passed, John loved logging many peaceful hours flying his Cessna 150 airplane along the coastline. His favorite thing to do was to celebrate special occasions with his family at Lenny’s in Branford. Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM, Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave. East Haven, CT. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 in Christ Church Anglican, 965 West Main Street, Branford CT 06405. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the recreation dept. at Branford Hills Health Care Center or to the East Haven Food Pantry. The family gives heartfelt thanks to the nurses, CPA’s and staff at both the Hamden Hills and Branford Hills Healthcare Centers for their tender care.
