Dr. Donald Joseph Tasso, 94 of Orange, passed away at Branford Hills on November 22, 2013. He was born on September 6, 1919, son of the late Andrew and Louise (Oneto) Tasso. Donald was the husband of the late Jean (McCandless) Tasso. Loving father to Deanna Novella (Lawrence) of East Haven, and Christopher Tasso (Anne) of Bethany and grandfather to Lauren, Brian, Hillary, and has two great grandchildren. Brother to Arlene Greene (Robert) and the late Ruth Pask (Andrew). Donald attended St. Francis Parochial School, Fair Haven Junior High and graduated from Hillhouse High School in 1937. He graduated from Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1944 and began his solo practice in the Century Building on Church Street, New Haven in 1945. He retired in 2003 after 59 years in practice. He was co-founder of the New Haven Optometric Society, and a lifelong member of the American Optometric Association. He was also a member of the Knight of Columbus. Family will receive friends from 9:45 – 10:45 AM on Monday, November 25, 2013 at the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Funeral procession will leave Clancy Funeral Home at 10:45 for a 11 AM Funeral Mass in St. Vincent de Paul Church, East Haven, with Committal to follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations: Salus University, Pennsylvania School of Optometry, 8360 Old York Rd, Elkins Park, PA 19027 or the Wounded Warrior Project, c/o Orange Lions, 533 Summit Drive, Orange, CT 06477.
