Obituary of Helen M. Fenwick

Helen M. Fenwick, 93, of Branford, passed away on November 24, 2013. Helen was born in New Haven in 1920. She was the widow of Harold J. Fenwick, Jr. In the 1960s she helped pioneer the Homemakers-Home Health Aide program in Branford. She was a volunteer with the American Red Cross for 41 years and received a Special Citation for Exceptional Volunteer Service. She also spent 36 years as a volunteer at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in West Haven. While living in Napa, California, she was active in the 4-H club and served with her husband as Executive Leader. She was a member of the Old Stone Church in East Haven and the Canoe Brook Senior Center in Branford, driving the transportation van. She enjoyed arts, crafts, and painting; was an avid fan of mysteries; and was an accomplished gardener. She rode her bicycle until she was 80 and was a member of the Yale Club of New Haven. Helen is survived by three sons: Robert Fenwick of Phoenix, AZ; John Fenwick of Fort Myers, FL, (Joan); and Brian Fenwick of New York, NY (Linda Grosso). She had two grandchildren: Jason Fenwick, Fort Myers, FL, and Jennifer Hoffman (Doug), Winter Springs, FL; and two great granddaughters, Riley and Elizabeth Hoffman. Graveside service in the care of Clancy Funeral Home, East Haven. A graveside service will be at the Branford Center Cemetery, Montowese Street, Friday, December 6, 2013 at noon, followed by a private reception.
