Obituary of Adele Grillo

Adele (Figlewski) Grillo, 95, of East Haven, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2013, in Milford, CT. She was born October 21, 1918 in New Haven, CT to Stanley and Sophia Figlewski. Adele was predeceased by loving husband Vito A. Grillo, her parents and siblings: George Malinowski, Henry Figlewski, Edward "Eddie" Figlewski, Stanley Figlewski, Jean Desrosier, Raymond Figlewski, and Irene Perry. She was also predeceased by nephews, Frank Zabski, Paul Desrosier, Omer Desrosier, and niece Shirley DeSena. Adele is survived by loving daughter, Angela Grillo of East Haven, CT and her companion David Sura (Milford, CT), grandson, Ian Reid of East Haven, CT, granddaughters, Adrienne Reid of New York, and Rachel Reid and fiancé Matthew Whitbread of New Haven, CT. Adele was head bookkeeper at Elm City Oil Co for many years, was employed at New Haven Comfort in East Haven and then at Cintas in Branford until her retirement in 2004. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and friend. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends, most especially nieces Aimee Dymarczyk of East Haven and Joy Fair of North Branford. Adele's family would especially like to thank the staff at Golden Hill Health Care Center, First Floor for their compassionate care during the last two years. Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM Thursday, December 26, 2013 at the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Funeral procession will leave Clancy Funeral Home at 9:45 AM on Friday, for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Clare Church, 234 Coe Ave, East Haven at 10:00 AM. Committal to follow at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Cancer Society in memory of Adele Grillo.
