Albert “Pops” Reed, 94 of Killingworth, passed away February 26, 2014 at Middlesex Hospital. He was born January 31, 1920 in New Haven. He is preceded in death by his mother Frances (Kane) Reed, wife, Agnes “Mums” Reed, the love of his life for over 69 years, son, Albert T. Reed and grandson, John Galvin. Albert is survived by three children; Joan Galvin (William) of Killingworth, Ronald Reed (Elaine) of Safety Harbor, FL and Richard Reed (Denise) of Branford. Albert is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and two sisters, Beverly Czepiga of West Haven and Hope Cordts of Guilford. Pops was a proud US Army veteran of WWII having fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He loved the Yankees and UCONN basketball. He was an avid outdoorsman and took many long walks in the woods with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed traveling; having seen most of the United States, Germany, Japan and England. Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM, Monday, March 3, 2014 at the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Funeral procession will leave Clancy Funeral Home at 9:40 AM for a 10 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Taylor Street, East Haven on Tuesday, March 4. Committal to follow at All Saints Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Middlesex Hospice, 28 Crescent Street, Middletown CT 06457 in memory of Albert “Pops” Reed.
