Thomas Michael Sullivan, 73 of Windsor, formerly of East Haven, passed away June 3, 2014 at Hartford Hospital. He was born April 9, 1941 in New Haven to the late Thomas P. and Antoinette (Gambardella) Sullivan. Thomas is survived by loving wife, Carol (Jones) Sullivan, daughter, Jill Manz (Matthew) of Tega Cay, SC, two grandchildren, Kayla and Colin Manz, sister-in-law, Marilyn Luciuk (Steven) of Windsor and brother-in-law, Richard Jones (Beverly) of Prescott Valley, AZ. Thomas is also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, all his cousins from East Haven and many special friends. Thomas graduated East Haven High School in 1959, and then continued his education to later receive a Ph.D. in literature from Illinois State University. Thomas was a U.S. Air Force veteran during the Vietnam Era being stationed in Alaska. He retired from the State of Connecticut with over twenty five years of service from the Retirement Unit. He enjoyed spending time with his family, reading, bird watching, and fishing. Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM Friday, June 6, 2014 at the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Funeral procession will leave Clancy Funeral Home at 9:45 AM on Saturday, June 7 for a 10 AM Funeral Mass in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Taylor Ave, East Haven. Committal to follow at East Lawn Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to East Haven Animal Shelter, 189 Commerce St., East Haven, CT 06512 in memory of Thomas Michael Sullivan.
