Frank Amore, 90 of New Haven, passed away July 21, 2014 at home. He was born March 31, 1924 in New Haven to Catello and Josephine (Panzo) Amore. Frank is preceded in death by parents and six siblings; Jennie Mauro, Giro Amore, Dominic Amore, Salvatore Amore, Margaret Petrelli and Mary Ianotti. Frank is survived by sister, Carmela Celotto, beloved niece, JoAnn (Celotto) Holman of New Haven, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins. Frank was a US Army veteran of WWII and member of the 85th Infantry Division. He was awarded the Bronze Star in September 1944 for heroic actions during the Battle of Monte Cassino in Italy. His unit was also a recipient of the Distinguished Unit Badge in July 1945. Frank was a retired employee of H.B. Ives as a buffer.
Family and friends are asked to meet at St. Bernadette Church, 385 Townsend Ave., New Haven on Thursday, July 24 at 10:00 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial to follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery with military honors. Clancy Funeral Home in East Haven will be entrusted with the funeral service. Donations may be made to St. Bernadette School, 385 Townsend Ave., New Haven CT 06512 in memory of Frank Amore.
