Obituary of John P. Stanley

John P. Stanley, Jr. 84, of East Haven, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2008 at CT Hospice. Mr. Stanley was born December 20, 1923 in New Haven, son of the late John and Beatrice Stanley, SR. He was the beloved husband of the late Eleanor (Crohan) Stanley. John was a WWII veteran who served in the US Army in Antitank Co. 119th Infantry Regiment. He participated in the Normandy Invasion and fought in England, Germany, France and Holland. He was a construction worker for C.W. Blakeslee and Blakeslee, Arpaia and Chapman for many years. He was a member of the Local 455. Mr. Stanley is survived by 2 daughters Linda Stanley, Jean (Keith) Dessureau both of East Haven and a son John Stanley III. Loving and caring grandfather of Tim Dessureau, Michael Dessureau, Brianna Dessureau, Travis Dessureau, Susan Stanley, and John Stanley IV. He is also survived by brothers James (Pat) Stanley, Frank (Ann) Stanley and Joseph Stanley. He is predeceased by sisters Lillian Siekerski, Hazel Ahrens and a brother Robert Stanley. Funeral from Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven Wednesday at 9:30am. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Vincent de Paul Church. Burial in All Saints Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday from 8:30am-9:30am.
