Obituary of Kenneth Dale Higgins

Kenneth Dale Higgins, age 84, of Fairfield, CT, Orleans, MA and Sarasota, FL, passed away September 20, 2014 at CT Hospice in Branford, CT. He was born December 9, 1929 in Clovis, CA to Kenneth and Adalia (McKenzie) Higgins. He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Janice (Nicholson) Higgins and daughter, Erin Higgins. Ken was a loving brother to his sisters, Melba DiBuduo and Alma Jean Bray of California. Kenneth and Janice moved to Fairfield, CT in 1967 where they raised their family. Kenneth served in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Warrick from 1948 until 1952, during the Korean conflict. Ken is survived by his wife of 17 years, Mary Ellen (Lawrie) Higgins, and children; Stacey Cohane (Jack) of Easton, CT, Kurt Higgins (Erin) of Easton, MD, Maria Connors (Sean) of Madison,CT, Joleen Bull (Danny) of Trumbull, CT, stepchildren; Christopher Cooney (Mara) of Lisle, IL, Brendan Cooney (Denise) of Elmhurst, IL and Sara Schimmel (Michael) of Downers Grove, IL. Ken is also survived by twenty five grandchildren; Mackenzie Cohane, Finnegan Cohane, Callahan Cohane, Kenneth Higgins, Samantha Higgins, Colin Higgins, Morgan Connors, Padraic Connors, Reilly Connors, Maeve Connors , Lindsay Bull, Owen Bull, Mac Cooney, Sam Cooney, Emma Cooney, Ben Cooney, Jack Cooney, Graham Cooney, Charlie Cooney, Matthew Cooney, Natalie Cooney, Audrey Cooney, Patrick Schimmel, Declan Schimmel, and Brendan Schimmel. Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on October 3, 2014 at 11am in St. George Catholic Church, 33 Whitfield Street, Guilford, CT.
