Virginia (Ginny) Assante Byrne, of Branford, passed away on November 7, 2008. She was the widow of Edward F. Byrne. She was born in Providence, Rhode Island daughter of the late Giacomo and Columbia D'Alessio Assante. Devoted mother of Mary (Tony) Fontana of Branford, Edward (Debbie) Byrne of North Haven, Teresa (Rick) Wach of Plano, TX, and Joseph (June) Byrne of Cary,NC. Proud grandmother of Kristine(Jim) Windsor of Orange, Lauren(Mike)Hall of Belmont, MA, Kelly Bryne of NY,NY, Andrea Byrne of North Haven, Jesse and David Bryne of NC and Ian and Ethan Wach of TX. Beloved great-grandmother of “GiGi” of Charlie and jack Windsor. Sister of Lydia Joity of New Haven, and Michael Assante of Freemont, MI, and the late Dora DeBarri, Eleanor Marchetti, Gloria Orefice, Steve Joseph, George and Giacomo Assante. Also survived by several Nieces and nephews. Ginny’s greatest joy in life was raising her children and spending memorable time with her family. She also enjoyed her many wonderful friends at 21 Rice Terrace in Branford, CT, which was her home for over 20 years. She was a loyal fan of both New York Yankees and the UCONN basketball teams. She had been employed for many years as an inspector for several area garment stores. Funeral from the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham ave., East Haven Monday morning at 9:30am, Mass of Christian Burial in St. Vincent de Paul Church, East Haven at 10:00. Burial will follow in East Lawn Cemetery. Friends may Call Sunday from 3-7pm. Memorial contributions may be made to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405
