Phyliss (Russo) Vorio, 84 of New Haven and Northford passed away peacefully on February 4, 2015 in Northford. She was born April 7, 1930 to Maurizio and Lena (Biardino) Russo. She is preceded in death by parents, husband of 63 years, Frank F. Vorio, brothers, Salvatore Russo, Paul Russo Sr., Vincent Russo and a sister, Rose Benivegna. Phyliss is survived by two children: Thomas F. Vorio (Diane) of Guilford, SallyAnn Stone (Albert Jr.) of Northford, grandchildren: Leslie Skarbek (Barry), William Stone (Lisa), Brian Stone (Jennifer), Thomas C. Vorio, Albert Stone III (Dannielle) and eight great-grandchildren. Phyliss is also survived by sister, Theresa Russo and several beloved sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Phyliss lived in the Annex area of New Haven for over 83 years. For many years Phyliss did secretarial work for several insurance and architectural companies. Phyliss served as a crossing guard for Woodward School, worked at Teletrak and Yale New Haven Hospital. She loved to read, was fond of snowy days and adored her dog Shirley. Phyliss took great pride in sewing beautiful blankets and quilts that will be family heirlooms. Phyliss was a member of The Jolly Time Seniors and St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 10:00 am with Committal to follow at St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford. Family will receive friends on Friday, (TODAY) February 6, 2015 from 4 – 7 pm at the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven, and again on Saturday, from 8:30 am until 9:40am at which time the funeral procession will leave Clancy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Yale New Haven Hospital, c/o Spiritual Care (Fr. Bill McGuire), 20 York St., Hunter 5, New Haven, CT, 06510 in memory of Phyliss Vorio. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses at Yale New Haven Hospital for their exceptional care, especially 4-7 medical unit, Dr. Mark Siegel and Father Bill.
