Longtime East Haven resident, beloved mother and grand- mother, Betty J. Peters Curren, 78, passed away on Jan. 13; 2009 in Yale New Haven Hospital. She was born the only child of the late Richard and Aletta Gilbert Peters in West Haven,CT. She graduated from New Havens Hillhouse High School before working for the Southern New England Telephone Com- pany where she met her hus- band, Raymond H. Curren. Married in 1952, they shared a blessed union for fifty years until his passing in 2006. After their marriage, the couple moved to East Haven where they raised their three children and Betty became actively involved in the P,T.A., the Girls Scouts of America 'and the Ladies Guild of Our Lady of Pompeii Church. After, raising her family, Betty returned to work in the Medical Records Dept. of the Yale Uversity Health Center until her retirement in 1987. She is survived by her children,Diane E. (David) Bird of San Jose, CA and Christopher P.(Lois) Curren of Los Angeles, CA and her grandchildren, Michael Bird and Alexandra Bird. Besides her husband she was pre-deceased by her eldest son,William R. Curren. Funeral from the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven, Thursday morning at 10:30. Mass of Christian Burial, in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 11 :00. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 5-7 pm.
