In New Haven, Jan. 26, 2009, Eugene A. Roddy Jr., 86, of Rimmon Rd., Woodbridge, former longtime resident of Ley St., New Haven. Husband of the late Mary Gilbert Roddy. Father of Dr. Eugene A. ( Gail) Roddy II of Wallingford, Gilbert A. (Jane) Roddy of Woodbridge and Paul M. (Rosemary) Roddy of Baltimore, MD. Grandfather of Christopher Roddy, Maren Roddy;Meghan Carbone and Ryan Roddy. Great grandfather of Hailey Roddy and Samantha Senese. Also survived by his longtime companion-Kay Clark of Northford. He was predeceased by his sister Marilyn Rawdon. Born June 18, 1922 in New Haven a son of the late Eugene A and Myrtle Lafoe Roddy Sr., he was a graduate of the former Commercial High School in New Haven. Eugene served with the US Army during WWII and after, retiring as a Master Sargent after over twenty years of service. He was employed for over thirty years by Western Electric as an engineer and project manager, and was a former Alderman for the City of New Haven. He also was a member of the VFW Post # 320 where he was a past commander and was a life member of the Knights of Columbus. Funeral from the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven, Friday morning at 9:15. Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Center Ave., Woodbridge at 10:00. Burial with Military Honors in All Saints Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday from 4 - 8 pm. .
