Obituary of John L. Balsamo

At home, July 6, 2009, with his loving family by his side, John L. Balsamo, 94,
of Deerfield St., East Haven. Beloved husband of the late Marie Chirico Balsamo.
Father of Rosemarie (Tony) Vitolo of Branford, Salvatore (Janet) Balsamo of
Northford and Carmel (Louis) Roth with whom he resided. Brother of the late
Anna Gambardella, Lucy Festa, Mollie Piscitelli, Fred Balsamo, Salvatore Balsamo Jr.
and James Balsamo. Also survived by seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren
and several nieces and nephews. Born Sept. 14, 1914 in New Haven a son of the late
Salvatore and Rose Balsamo, he had owned and operated the former Balsamo's Grocery
Store in New Haven and also worked as a painter for many years with the D.I. Chapman
Painting Co. from where he retired. He was a member of Painters Union local # 186.
Funeral from the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven, Wednesday morning at 9:30am. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Vincent de Paul Church at 10:00. Burial will follow in East Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-8pm.
