Obituary of Faye Konesky

Faye (Faulkner) Konesky 89 of East Haven passed away September 27, 2017 in Cheshire. She was born August 23, 1928 in New Haven to William and Josephine (Farren) Faulkner. Faye is survived by her four children; Frank W. Konesky III of Beverly, MA Nancy Lynch (Jack) of Cheshire, Kathryn Zandri (Geno) of Wallingford, Sandra Leone (Anthony) of Aliso Viejo, CA., seven grandchildren; John, Jason and Jared Forselius, Tracey (David) Volturno, Carl Milano, Jr., Georgiana Konesky and Samantha Leone; nine great grandchildren; Daniel and Tyler Guastella, Gina and Kaitlyn Volturno, Elizabeth Nutter, Devon and Vincent Biancarelli-Milano, Maximus Milano, Jemma Forselius, one great-great grandson, Hunter Guastella and numerous nieces and nephews. Faye is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Frank Konesky (EHPD ret.), great grandson, Anthony Volturno, brother, William Faulkner Jr. and sister, Doris Merighi. Faye was a 1946 graduate of East Haven High School where she proudly mastered the Gregg system of shorthand at the rate of 115 words per minute. After raising her family, Faye entered the workforce, she took a position as an elementary school secretary, and worked in the East Haven school system at Union, Tuttle, Deer Run, Momauguin schools and was especially fond of Kindergarten registration. Faye was a newly installed member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She was an avid bowler for many years. She loved her New York Yankees and once penned a letter to Yankees’ owner, George Steinbrenner that consisted of three short words – “Bunt, Bunt, Bunt!”. Faye loved planning and attending parties and celebrations. She had a knack for composing witty poems related to the occasion. One dish Faye was noted for was her “baked macaroni” which no one could seem to replicate. Faye also loved playing cards, particularly rummy and canasta. Faye’s home for the past several years was Elim Park, a residential care. She made many friends there and was affectionately known as “Faye Faye” to the staff. The family is very grateful for the wonderful loving care she received with special thanks to Mary Lord, a dear family friend, for being with her when she passed. She loved Mary and took great comfort in knowing she was always close by. Faye’s favorite dessert was ice cream and she never let a day go by without enjoying her special treat. The family asks that in lieu of flowers you honor Faye’s memory by partying, taking time to dance like no one’s watching, and most of all enjoying a dish of your favorite ice cream. Family will receive friends on Tuesday October 3, 2017 from 4 to 7 PM at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave. East Haven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, October 4 in Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church, 355 Foxon Road (Rte 80) East Haven, please go directly to the church.
