Obituary of George E. Norden

In New Haven, Dec. 16,2009, George E. Norden Jr., 81, of East Haven. Beloved husband of fifty seven years to Ann McGuire Norden. Loving father of Katherine ( Mark) Toce of East Haven, Patricia ( Nick) Carusone of East Haven, George E.(Kim) Norden III of Branford, Daniel ( Kate) Norden of East Haven and Timothy( Lisa) Norden of Branford. Cherished grandfather of Mark and Danny Toce, Patrick, Annie and Maria Carusone, George IV, Brooke and Megan Norden and Erin and Emma Norden. Born Oct. 4, 1928 in New London a son of the late George E. Norden Sr., he was a graduate of East Haven High School and served with the US Army during the Korean conflict. He went on to become a General Contractor and Architect, opening his own Co., George E. Norden General Contractors which designed and constructed many local buildings and homes. He was a senior member of the East Haven Rotary Club , serving as club president for several years during the 1970's. He was also a founding member of the Stoners Club and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Norden enjoyed sport fishing and wildlife, music, and cooking. Throughout his life he took part and supported many fundraisers to benefit children and needy families in his community. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Claire Church, Coe Ave., East Haven, Saturday morning at 9:00. Burial will follow in East Lawn Cemetery. There are no calling hours. George's family would like to offer many thanks to Donna and LuAnn of the VNA and also a special thank you to Mary Jane, his niece ,for the wonderful care given to him.
