At home, July 24,2010, with her loving family at her side, Margaret E. Doherty Carey, 86, of East Haven. Wife of the late Edward C. Carey Jr. Beloved mother of Ellen Carey of Branford and Edward C. ( Lucy ) Carey III of Bowling Green, KY. Cherished grandmother of Chase Carey of Houston, TX and the late Zachary Hart Carey. Sister of Anne ( Louis ) Hylwa of Seneca Falls, NY and the late Donald Doherty. Sister in law of H. Robert ( Mary ) Carey of NH, Carol O'Donnell of MA and Marie ( Edward ) Ball of Branford. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Born Nov, 24, 1923 in New Haven, a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Cassell Doherty, she was a graduate of Hamden High School and the former Larson Junior College. She had resided in Pittsburgh, PA for several years before moving back to the New Haven area. Funeral from the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven, Tuesday morning at 11:00. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Vincent de Paul Church at 11:30. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday morning from 9:00-11:00. The family would like to extend heartfeld graditude to Marcie Holland RN, Linda Wooduh and the nurses of CT Hospice Home Care for the loving care given to Margaret.
