In East Haven, Aug. 23, 2010, Gertrude M. Alstrum Pohlman, 85, of Vista Dr., East Haven. Beloved wife of Rudolph Pohlman. Loving mother of Laurie Bowman and husband Bruce of Stokesdale,NC and Sharon Cote and husband William of East Haven. Devoted grandmother of Jennifer Alexander, Shannon Bowman, Brittany Cote and William P. Cote. Cherished great grandmother of Sebastian Alexander. Sister of the late James Alstrum. Born May 2, 1925 in New Haven, a daughter of the late James and Gertrude Murphy Alstrum, she was a graduate of the former Commercial High School in New Haven and also graduated from Hairdressing school. She had been employed for several years at the former A.C. Gilbert Co. Gertrude was a parishoner of St. Claire Church in East Haven and was a member of the ladies guild of the church. She was a girl scout volunteer and a former member of the Gillis School PTA. She was also an avid Red Sox fan who loved dogs and was very proud of her Irish heritage. Gertrude loved her role as mother and homemaker and will be missed greatly by her family. Funeral from the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven Friday morning at 9:30. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Claire Church at 10:00. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 4 - 8 pm.
