In North Branford, August 29, 2010, Kenneth A. Martino Jr., 55, passed away with the love of his life, his wife of 36 years, Sheila Carusone Martino by his side. He was predeceased by his only child, his beloved son Kenny Martino III, who always will be the flame in his heart. Born in New Haven August 17, 1955, son of Kenneth A. and Mary Lou Denison Martino Sr of North Haven. Kenny also leaves behind his twin granddaughters Isabella and AnnaLisa Martino, grandson Kenny Martino IV, daughter- in- law Teresa Martino, mother- in- law Mary Carusone and predeceased father- in- law Frank Carusone, sister and brother in law, Toni Marie and Gwynne Spencer of NY, sisters- in-law and brothers- in -law, Terry Cariello, New Haven, Pauline Carbone, North Haven, Joe and Rita Carusone, North Haven, and Linda and Scott Meeker, New Haven. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, a few close friends. He also leaves behind the family’s devoted pets who recently passed away, Bruiser and Geeto. Kenny enjoyed rock and roll music and a love for muscle cars. With his son by his side, he enjoyed fixing up cars, racing cars or going to car shows. Kenny had a 1965 GTO and his son had a 1967 Camaro they entered in car shows and have many trophies to show for the fun and love of cars they had together. Kenny was a proud Navy Veteran who served aboard the world’s first guided missile destroyer The USS Dewey DLG 14. He was a proud member of the Teamster Union Local 443 of New Haven for 33 years and was employed by Tilcon Company of No. Branford which he was the Union Steward of The Over The Road Green Fleet, till he recently had to retire after 30 years due to a courageous battle with lung cancer that he fought like a warrior and I am so proud of my husband and to be his wife, I adore you Babe and I know our son Kenny was always proud of his Dad and also so proud of our love. (We had it all Babe). Funeral from the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven, Thursday morning at 9:30. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Vincent de Paul Church at 10:00am. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 3 – 8 pm. I would like to thank the wonderful staff at Yale New Haven Hospital and the VA Hospital for the wonderful care given to my husband. Also a special thank you to the staff at CT. Hospice who went far and beyond a job showing such compassion in the caring of my husband at this most difficult time.
