Obituary of Judith Williams

Please share a memory of Judith to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Judith “Judy” Sarah Williams, 75, of Guilford CT passed away on December 6th, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 27th, 1942 in New Haven to mother Josephine (Corso) Williams and Harold Corbett Williams. She is survived by her daughter Dena Marie Williams (Robert) of Guilford, her grandchildren Joseph Williams of Guilford, Marissa Scotto (Antonio) of Wallingford, Anthony Williams of Essex, Nicholas Williams (Morgan Piesco) of Wallingford, Ryan Williams of Guilford and great-granddaughters Giovanna Scotto and Isabella Scotto of Wallingford. She is also survived by her niece, Gina Williams (Mark) and nephew Christopher Williams (Debbie), many great-nieces/ nephews and close friends. Judy is preceded in death by her parents and brothers Michael Williams & Malcolm Williams.

Judy was born and raised in New Haven, well known and adored by many. She was self-employed; she owned and operated a cleaning business. Another one of her accomplishments was she held a seat on the Veterans’ Affairs Advisory Committee of New Haven for the Vietnam War for many years. Judy lost her brother Malcolm in the Vietnam War so she held a place close in her heart when it came to remembering all who fought and fallen soldiers as well as soldiers MIA. She held an important role in the creation and placement of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall on Long Wharf in New Haven. Prideful, Judy also played a major role in the plaque hanging in New Haven Town Hall as a lasting remembrance of all those who have died in this war from our great city. She was well known for her sense of humor and lively presence and also for being a comforting and loving soul to all she knew. Her dedication to her family was unparalleled as she remains the heart of each and every generation that descended her. Her life was never without purpose and her love will continue to live on in all that were graced by knowing her. As she may be gone from our sight she will forever remain in our hearts.
