Gregory Ayala 61, of East Haven passed away September 23, 2020 at CT Hospice in Branford. He was born August 10, 1959 in New York City to Gregory and Carmen (Gonzalez) Ayala. Gregory is survived by his father, Gregory Ayala Sr, sister, Anne Traverso Weir (John) of Hamden, nephew, Jamie Traverso of Branford, niece, Alyssa Piroli (Christopher) of East Haven, great niece, Gabriella Piroli and great nephew, Christopher “CJ” Piroli. He is also survived by his cousin, Lianne Gerety (Michael) and their son, Aiden of Cheshire. Gregory is preceded in death by his mother, aunt/uncle, Manuel and Anne Morales, uncle, John Soto and cousin, Manny Morales. Gregory resided at a Marrakech group home and attended ARC of Greater New Haven, where he was cared for and loved by the staff at both agency’s for over 30 years. A loving and friendly man, there wasn’t a person he didn’t want to meet and a hand he didn’t want to shake. Greg loved his Puerto Rican culture, especially the food and music, and had a wonderful ability to never forget a name. He brought unconditional love, joy and many smiles to his family and friends. Family and friends are invited to meet and attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. on Saturday, October 3, 2020 in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 2819 Whitney Ave., Hamden CT 06518. Burial will be private. Please observe state guidance on social distancing and use of face masks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ARC of Greater New Haven, 109 Sanford Street, Hamden CT 06514 or Marrakech, Inc., 6 Lunar Dr., Woodbridge CT 06525 in memory of Gregory Ayala.
