Dear Cole famiy, I am so very sorry to have only just discovered that Mimi and John both passed away last year. I send you all my sympathy. During my years as a student at Yale and with my own family living far away in France, Mimi became a defacto godmother to me, taking me under her wing. Mimi and I became friends in the History of Art Slides & Photos Library, where we both worked. I was so impressed, not only by her kindness and her good humor, but by the depth of her knowledge of Europe, especially, in the fields of art history, classical music, and literature. She would invite meto to pick apples and berries at Bishop's farms or take walks down to the rocks at Saachem's Head. Occasionally, I would stay over for a weekend at Dromara Road, enjoying home cooking and gardening. I will always hold Mimi dear to my heart.
