Gordon Eugene MacGillivray, 71 of Newington, passed away January 20, 2023 at Hartford Hospital. He was born March 10, 1951 in Cranston, RI to Daniel Miriam (Holloway) MacGillivray. Gordon is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Lourdes Lopez and a brother, Daniel MacGillivray, his lovely niece, Alara Guzman Macgillivray (husband Emiliano Guzman), Milito and Betsy children’s, a nephew Mac Macgillivray , wife and two sons, Uncle Ward and Edna, cousins and all family, friends and little Tiger. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Michael MacGillivray. Gordon was a proud US Army veteran of the Vietnam War, “Our Nation is grateful for his sacrifices and service while in the United State Army and helping defend democracy and shape the world we live in today.” After receiving his degree, Gordon lastly worked with the Department of Veteran Affairs, as a Peer Specialist at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System. He was held in “high esteem” among his professionals and peers. He will be missed by all, especially by his wife, Lourdes. Family will receive friend on Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 11:30 AM until the time of service with US Army Honors at 1 PM in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Burial will be private.
