Obituary of Kathleen Conner

Kathleen (Sayles) Conner, 75, of East Haven passed away January 13, 2024 at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was born September 19, 1948 in New Haven to Brooks and Teresa (Salvato) Sayles. Kathleen is survived by her mother, Teresa Sayles of East Haven, her loving and devoted husband of 49 years, Michael Conner and their son, Jason Conner of East Haven. Kathleen is preceded in death by her father and a brother, Brooks Sayles. Kathleen was dedicated to her family, friends and town. She spent summers dockside at Indian Neck Yatch Club waiting to see her husband's daily catch, also an avid setback player. She always looked forward to taking trips to the casino with her BFF. Quiet nights at home often ended with watching the sunset across the street. She was a member of the INYC Auxiliary and loved to help out in any way she could. For the past 40 years she was employed by the East Haven Board of Education as a secretary, and over this time she had touched many lives. She is often referred to as a second mom or “school mom”. She has always been involved with youth sports starting as softball/wiffle ball coach for Momauguin rec league. Her involvement with the students carried outside the school as well, by selling tickets for all East Haven High School’s sporting events. Her pride and dedication to the town of East Haven could always be felt as she worked the polling stations for elections and was a member of the East Haven Rotary club. Her love and guidance will always be in the memories of those who knew her. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 from 4 to 7 P.M. in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home & Cremation Service (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Burial will be private.
